South Coast NRM is providing continued support to the community through engagement in on-ground actions to protect and improve coastal environments of the South Coast NRM region.
Community groups and land managers are supported by the services of a Regional Coastal and Aquatic Program Leader, Coastal Implementation Officer & Indigenous Coastal Implementation Officers. These positions facilitate on-ground outcomes through provision of best-practice technical advice, logistical support, and build capacity and skills through training and awareness raising activities.
Caring for our Country transitional year (July 2008 - June 2009) on ground rehabilitation and coastal management projects with community groups and land managers facilitated by South Coast NRM include:
· Lions Lookout, Black Hole and Parry Beach, Shire of Denmark
· Bettys Beach, City of Albany
· Bremer Point Flat Rocks, Shire of Jerramungup
· West Beach and Flathead Point, Shire of Ravensthorpe
· Castletown Quays, Shire of Esperance
· Bycatch Reduction South Coast EstuarineFishery,
OceanWatch and WAFIC
· Cape Le Grand Track Rehabilitation and Sustainable Walk Trail Establishment, Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC).
External resources have also been leveraged to assist the community and land managers implement actions to protect and rehabilitate coastal environments.
