South Coast Management Group

South Coast Management Group (SCMG) is a regional coastal management group comprising local government and community members from the five coastal Local Government authorities between Denmark and Esperance.

SCMG is strongly supported and advised by South Coast NRM, State Government agencies and other organisations with an interest in coastal zone planning and management.

Implementation of Southern Shores Regional Coastal Strategy

South Coast NRM has a close working partnership with SCMG. Through regional funding and the Implementation of Southern Shores project, SCMG has achieved:

· Regional coastal management forums, with the latest in 2009
focusing on Off Road Vehicle management;

· On-ground works and site planning at coastal locations across the region;

· Delivery of education and awareness raising initiatives via support of the school marine science program; and

· The review of the regional coastal strategy and publication of Southern Shores 2009-2030: a strategy to guide coastal zone planning and management across the South Coast region of Western Australia.
